Sleep in the News

Our sleep changes as we grow older. We have a harder time getting to sleep and staying asleep. We have less dream (Rapid Eye Movement REM) sleep and get less sleep than we did when we were younger. However, our need for sleep doesn’t decrease. What can you do?

Aging and Sleep

Some statistics from the National Sleep Foundation poll on sleep and aging:

24% of those ages 65-84 have been diagnosed with four or more medical conditions. Of this group, 80% reported having a sleep problem.
