This week the Sleep Doctors are talking about people and occupations which have the highest probability of sleep-related accidents.  See if you are in one of this groups this week on the Sleep Doctors!

This week’s show will revolve around new studies released about people and occupations which when mixed with sleep disorders can be dangerous to the general public.  The National Sleep Foundation recently released the following information about their poll exploring transportation workers’ sleep:

Sleepy Pilots, Train Operators and Drivers

The National Highway and Transportation Safety Administration identifies three groups as high risk:  young people, shift workers, and people with untreated sleep conditions. You can read the full report which explains why at the following link:

And just last week, the Tennessee Highway Patrol is asking for federal assistance with an investigation of a Florida trucker who hit a trooper’s cruiser parked along I-40.  The driver of the truck told police that he had recently fallen asleep not long before the crash and had stopped long enough to splash some water on his face.  Here’s the full article from Land Line Magazine:

The Sleep Doctors want to hear from you on this important topic.  Tune in and call in Sunday mornings at 9a on SuperTalk WTN 99.7 FM!  If you missed the show, you can listen online.
